Interfaith Group Raising Funds for Bomb Shelters (IsraelNN.com) The International Fellowship of Christians and Jews has announced a fundraising drive to provide $11.5 million to upgrade bomb shelters along the confrontation line in the north and Sderot, according to a statement by the organization.
“At the request of Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, and as the threat of war with Israel’s enemies looms, [the Fellowship] has stepped up efforts to restore and provide supplies for 2,523 private bomb shelters,” said the statement. “The Israeli government has acknowledged that it cannot afford the necessary repair and upgrade of private bomb shelters,” it added. “Reports indicate that Iranian-backed Hizbullah has used the ceasefire…to fully re-arm in preparation for another attack.” The campaign is geared toward funding repairs to electricity and plumbing, floors, ceilings, bathrooms and major appliances, as well as purchasing furniture, medical supplies, and other items to install in the shelters. ![]() © A7 Syndications - This article may not be republished freely.
