Justice Minister Daniel Friedmann and Attorney General Menachem Mazuz have reached a compromise regarding the appointment procedure for the State Prosecutor. The two had argued over the issue for months, causing current State Prosecutor Eren Shendar to postpone his retirement until a replacement can be appointed.

According to the compromise, the Committee to Choose Judges will be allowed to recommend one or more candidates, one of whom will be approved by the Justice Minister. However, as part of an effort to separate the courts from the Justice Ministry, retired judges will not be allowed to sit on the committee.
