MK Yuval Steinitz (Likud) sent a letter to Prime Minister Ehud Olmert recently asking Olmert not to participate in a scheduled conference in Sharm El Sheikh. Olmert is planning to meet with Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas and other Arab leaders.
Steinitz asked Olmert to avoid the conference due to “the Egyptians’ double game.” He questioned Egypt’s willingness to fight terrorism, and pointed out that the United States Congress recently voted to cut aid to Egypt due to its failure to fight weapons smuggling to Hamas.
