(IsraelNN.com) A recent poll conducted by the Center for Policy and Survey in Ramallah shows that 59% of Arabs living under Palestinian Authority rule would vote for jailed terrorist leader Marwan Barghouti if elections were held to replace current PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas. If elections were held now, the poll found, Barghouti would win by a landslide, with only 37% voting for senior Hamas terrorist Ismail Haniyeh.

Barghouti is serving five life sentences in Israeli prison for masterminding terrorist attacks that killed five Israelis and wounded many more. Abbas has often pressured Israel to release Barghouti, who was elected to the PA Legislative Counsel in absentia.
