The Gay Pride Parade scheduled to take place at 5 PM Thursday in downtown Jerusalem will continue as planned, police said Thursday afternoon. However, a party planned for after the parade has been cancelled due to a firefighters strike. Firefighters have refused to work at parades and gatherings for the past week as part of the strike, and refused to make an exception for the parade.
Preparations for the parade began on Thursday morning, and 45 ambulances, 200 paramedics, and 11 mobile intensive care stations have been placed along the parade route. Anti-parade demonstrators have prepared as well, and hundreds have already arrived and begun protesting the parade.
