Attorneys for the State and for homosexual rights groups were given a two-hour deadline early Thursday afternoon by the High Court of Justice to respond to a petition demanding the cancellation of a Gay Pride Parade at 5:00 p.m. due to a strike by firefighters.
The petitioners, led by attorney Naftali Wurzberger, say the lack of firefighters constitutes a security risk. In addition, says the petition, it is illegal to hold such an event without the presence of firefighters and fire engines.
