According to the Central Bureau of Statistics, the number of tourists who entered Israel in May 2007, including on cruise ships, was 179,900, about 5% less than 189,000 who entered during the same period last year. The vast majority of entries were via airplanes which landed at Ben Gurion Airport, though there were a significant number who entered by boat and by land. There has been a significant increase in the number of tourists entering Israel by land at the Taba-Eilat crossing from Egypt.
Tourism has made a near-full recovery since the Second Lebanon War, as numbers approach pre-war levels. The increase has been most substantial since March 2007.
