An Israeli isolation of Gaza will "force Hamas to shoot rockets at Israeli civilians, hoping to evoke an Israeli incursion into Gaza and then win wide Middle East support," warned the American-based Christian Science Monitor Monday.
The widely respected newspaper said that making a quick deal with Abbas towards creating a new Arab state only in Judea and Samaria also ignores the possibility that Muslim terrorists in those areas will resort to suicide bombings.
The newspaper called on Israel to honor the 1993 Oslo Accords that call for Judea, Samaria and Gaza to be considered as a single unit. It suggested Israel pull more out troops out of Judea and Samaria as a "concession" to Abbas but did not relate to unfilled promises made by the PA at Oslo and in later agreements.
