Franco: Parade Will Take Place as Planned

(IsraelNN.com) Jerusalem Police Chief Ilan Franco announced Monday that the Gay Pride Parade will take place on Thursday as planned. Approximately 10,000 protested on Sunday night against the parade, and many hoped that a large show of opposition could force police to change the parade location as was done in 2006.
Franco explained that he is forced to allow the parade in downtown Jerusalem as made clear in a 2006 Supreme Court ruling. He has no authority to cancel the parade or change its route, he said, without appropriate reason.
