Several Wounded in Anti-Parade Protest

(IsraelNN.com) Seven police officers and at least one civilian were wounded during a protest against the Gay Pride Parade on Sunday night. Approximately 10,000 hareidi-religious Jews took part in the demonstration, which was held on Bar Ilan Street in Jerusalem.

Protestors threw rocks at the police, lightly wounding seven, and dozens of protestors also burned dumpsters and smashed traffic lights. The police were accused of reacting violently and beating protestors with clubs. One protestor was wounded by police and required medical treatment. Police head Ilan Franco responded to the claims of violence, saying “Unfortunately, force is sometimes a tool that works.”
