The security cabinet met in the office of Prime Minister Ehud Olmert on Wednesday to discuss issues relating to the homefront. Among other things, Defense Ministry officials asked for NIS 600 million for homefront preparedness.

The officials also discussed ways to care for the homefront under a national emergency network system. Defense Minister Amir Peretz recommended the establishment of an emergency network, which would deal with the homefront in case of war, mass terrorist attacks, plague, or other national emergencies. The network would be headed by the Deputy Defense Minister, Ephraim Sneh.
