Anti-Parade Protest in Jerusalem; Marzel Plans Plea

Members of the hareidi-religious community held a protest on Wednesday night in the Beit Israel neighborhood against the Gay Parade scheduled to take place next week. Activists drove through the neighborhood with loudspeakers, calling on others to join the protest.

Baruch Marzel, the head of the Jewish Front political party, said Wednesday that he would appeal to the Supreme Court and ask it to rule against the parade. Marzel said his plea would be based on historical precedent, as the court has ruled against demonstrations in the past on the grounds that demonstrators would disturb the peace.
