Jewish Agency officials reported Wednesday that a community leader was attacked on Tuesday night in Russia. The leader, Irwin Kirschtein, was attacked with his family in the city of Ivanovo, 300 kilometers from Moskow.
The Kirschtein family was attacked by two skinheads who shouted “Death to Jews,” “Russia is for Russians,” and “The Jews are stealing from Russia.” Local police arrested the skinheads shortly after the attack. The attackers are reportedly students in a local university. Police searched the attackers’ apartments and found a large quantity of anti-Semitic propaganda.
