Officer Wounded by Violent Bedouin Protestors
Violent clashes broke out in the Negev on Wednesday afternoon during the destruction of seven illegally built Bedouin homes north of Be’er Sheva. One police officer was lightly injured in the clashes. Four Bedouin men were arrested for attacking police.
Pini Badash, the head of the City Council in nearby Omer, praised the police for their work, saying “The carrot and stick method is working.” While police destroy houses built illegally on state land, Badash said, “Whoever moves to the new [legal] village—we will help him and fight for him.”
