The government has appointed a team of its ministers to deal with the problem of illegal ("pirate") radio broadcasts. Minister of Transport Shaul Mofaz has been named as the head of the team and will be working with Public Security Minister Avi Dichter, Communication Minister Ariel Atias and Justice Minister Daniel Friedmann. The team is to make practical recommendations for action as soon as possible.



Maj.-Gen. (res.) Gabi Ophir, Director of the Airports Authority, stopped all departures at Ben Gurion Airport for several hours Saturday because pirate radio station frequencies were interfering with communications between the control tower and planes.
