A new survey by the Israel Democracy Institute shows that an overwhelming majority of 75% of Israelis believes that Israel has a serious problem with corruption, and public trust in government institutions is unusually low in 2007. However, the survey also found that 76% of those polled are proud to be Israeli citizens.
The Prime Minister was the least trusted public figure in the poll, with 21% expressing support, as opposed to 67% in 2006. The Knesset earned the trust of 33% of survey participants, while the police had 41% and the media had 45%. The most trusted public institution was the army, with 74% saying they trust the IDF.
