Fighting Resumes in Lebanon

(IsraelNN.com) Heavy fighting resumed in northern Lebanon over the weekend, with the Lebanese army shelling the Nahr El-Bared camp near Tripoli and engaging in gunfights with Fatah Al-Islam terrorists. At least five soldiers were killed and 15 wounded, bringing the total number of army fatalities to 52 since fighting began in May. The number of terrorist and civilian casualties is unknown, as the camp is closed off to outsiders.

Lebanese army officials reported that soldiers had taken over several buildings, forcing terrorists to retreat. Fatah Al-Islam leaders denied the reports, saying they were successfully fighting the soldiers and had inflicted more casualties on the army than were inflicted on them.
