Justice Minister Daniel Friedmann will meet with government officials on Sunday to explain his proposal to change the process by which the Attorney General is appointed. Friedmann wants to put a former Justice Minister or former Attorney General in charge of the committee that appoints the Attorney General, while others want the committee to be headed by a retired Supreme Court justice.



Attorney General Menachem Mazuz opposes Friedmann’s proposal, and has said that now is not the right time to increase political involvement in the appointment process. Mazuz will meet with officials on Sunday as well, and will explain his stance on the issue.
