Jewish State Will Face Shortage of… Doctors
Hard as it is to believe, the Jewish state will soon be facing a severe shortage of medical doctors, according to a committee headed by Shaarei Tzedek Hospital Director Prof. Yonatan Halevi.
The committee recommended that a fifth medical school be established in Israel. This recommendation will now be debated in the Higher Education Council, which will decide if and where to open a new school.
The existing medical schools operate in Jerusalem's Hebrew University, Tel Aviv University, Ben Gurion University in the Negev and the Haifa Technion.
