Cheshin: Friedmann is Like Sennacherib
Retired Judge Mishael Cheshin attacked Justice Minister Daniel Friedmann Friday over his plan to change the way the attorney general is nominated. "Friedmann understands nothing in public law and is not in charge of [Attorney General Menachem] Mazuz," Cheshin said in an interview on IBA Radio. "I liken Friedmann's campaign to those of [Assyrian king] Sennacharib, who left ruins and scorched earth behind him and kept on going," he added.
Cheshin accused Friedmann of undermining the rule of law.
Friedmann suggested Thursday that the head of the committee that selects the attorney general be a former justice minister or former attorney general – not a retired Supreme Court judge, as is the situation today.
