Prime Minister Ehud Olmert wrote in the British Guardian Wednesday, "Our survival in 1967 is now, in the eyes of the world and, with worrying consequences in the UK [United Kingdom], the original sin of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict."

In an article entitled 1967: Israel Cannot Make Peace Alone, the Prime Minister added that Israelis have faced Arab violence since the beginning of the Zionist movement more than 100 years ago. "Palestinian violence is not a response to the capture of the West Bank and Gaza," he noted.

Prime Minister Olmert said he is willing to meet all Arab leaders about determining permanent borders for Israel and a new Arab state, "but the talks must be a discussion, not an ultimatum."
