The IDF police have expanded an investigation into the alleged use of Arab civilians as human shields in an IDF operation in Shechem two months ago. Soldiers reportedly forced Arab civilians to knock on their neighbors’ doors in an attempt to avoid danger to the soldiers, a tactic that has been outlawed by the Supreme Court.
The police will now investigate the possible involvement of several senior IDF officials in the affair. Commander of the Judea and Samaria Division General Yair Golan is among those who will be investigated. Sources warned that the investigation could interfere with Golan’s appointment to a senior position in the government.
