The National Council for Planning and Building has decided to approve changes in the regional master plan for Lachish with the purpose of creating a new community, Hazan. The new community is intended for Jewish refugees from Gush Katif.

Hazan will be the largest of several communities being planned for the Gush Katif refugees.
