The Knesset's House Committee has decided to create a new joint subcommittee for discussing the law put forth by MK Avigdor Yitzchaki (Kadima), mandating a national referendum before territories under Israeli sovereignty can be ceded to other countries.

The law is known as the "Golan Law" because it would prevent the cession of the Golan Heights without a referendum but would not prevent similar moves regarding Judea and Samaria, because Israeli sovereignty has not been applied to them.

The committee will be chaired by MK Ruhama Avraham (Kadima). It will be a joint subcommittee of the House Committee and the Constitution, Law and Justice Committee.
