(IsraelNN.com) The Hevron Jewish community and patriotic activists decided last night to hold a peaceful protest opposite the leftist "Peace Now" demonstration scheduled to take place in the biblical city Tuesday.

The leftist demonstration is being held to mark 40 years since the day that the City of the Forefathers was taken by the IDF in the Six Day War. The Supreme Court decided to allow the event despite testimony from Yehuda Regiment Commander, Col. Yehuda Fuchs, that it could lead to violence and endanger the participants' lives.

Tension in the city is reportedly high, and the police have placed hundreds of men, some on horseback, at the site of the planned demonstration, in the truck park near the Jewish community.
