Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki urged the Hamas and Islamic Jihad terrorist organizations to reject a proposal by Palestinian Authority Chairman and Fatah leader Mahmoud Abbas to halt terror attacks on Israel in a ceasefire deal.
According to PA sources quoted by the al-Hayat daily newspaper, the Iranian FM urged both groups during talks with their leaders in Damascus on Saturday to continue their terrorist activities against Israel.
Islamic Jihad has rejected all talk of a ceasefire thus far. The Hamas terrorist organization, which leads the PA coalition government with Fatah, has not yet made a final decision.
