Welfare Minister Yitzchak Herzog visited Sderot Friday and announced that his ministry would be footing the bill for a new two-room security structure near the Sderot welfare office. The construction will cost NIS 180,000.

The directors of the Prime Minister's Office and of the Finance Ministry visited Sderot too and met local business owners and merchants. The officials said that the government would decide on means for indirectly compensating Sderot's businesses on Monday.

The state has committed to paying half the construction cost of 70 security rooms in Sderot's industrial area, with the rest of the bill being paid by the factories themselves.
