A Skyhawk airplane belonging to the Air Force crashed on Thursday morning due to a mechanical malfunction. The plane crashed in the ocean, approximately five kilometers from Ashdod.



The pilot, who was in the middle of a training flight, noticed a fire in the plane’s engine and managed to escape. He was located by rescuers shortly afterwards. He was not injured in the incident, but has been taken for medical examinations as a precaution.
