Survey: More Religious Soldiers Oppose Order Refusal

A study published by the University of Haifa indicates that religious and Druze soldiers are least likely to support refusing orders conscientiously. 89% of Druze and 88% of religious soldiers tended to oppose refusing orders, while only 81% of secular soldiers and 67% of traditional soldiers expressed such opposition.

The study, based on information collected during the months leading up to the Disengagement expulsion of Jews from Gaza and Northern Samaria in 2005, surprised its own researchers, who were expecting to find that religious soldiers were more ready to refuse orders than their counterparts.
