      Labor Primaries Today

The Labor party will hold its primary elections on Monday to determine the new leader of the party. The frontrunners in the race, according to recent polls, are MK Ami Ayalon and former Prime Minister Ehud Barak. Current party leader Defense Minister Amir Peretz is significantly behind Ayalon and Barak, and is not expected to pass the first round of voting.

Analysts do not expect either Ayalon or Barak to win more than 40% of the vote. This means that the voting will go to a second round of elections. 65% of Labor members are expected to vote in the first round.
