37% Say Court System Corrupt
According to a recent poll conducted by the Gallup organization, 37% of Israelis believe that the court system is corrupt. 77% said that the system acts too slowly, and only 49% said they believe the system is just.
Participants were also asked to assign a score of one (not corrupt) to five (very corrupt) to a variety of government-affiliated bodies. The education system received the best score, 2.6, while the police were considered most corrupt, receiving a 3.3.
The results put Israel in 34th place from among 163 countries surveyed, down from 28th place last year. Israel is still ahead of other Middle Eastern countries with a score of 5.9 out of 10. Egypt, Syria, Lebanon, and Iran each received a score of between 2.7 and 3.6.
