IDF tanks have crossed the border into Gaza but are remaining near the security fence at this time, according to an IDF spokesman.
“The tanks have moved to improve their firing position,” the spokesman told Arutz-7. “This is one of several things the army is doing in its battle against the Kassam rocket attacks.”
The spokesman denied the move was the opening gambit in a ground operation and said there was no intention to enter the border town of Beit Lahiyah. He declined to comment on the specific purpose of position the tanks on the Gaza side of the fence.
