Jerusalem Mayor Uri Lupoliansky criticized the decision by American and European diplomats not to attend the events celebrating the 40th anniversary of the unification of Jerusalem.
"He who does not recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel does not recognize Israel either," said Lupoliansky. "Israel needs to send a sharp, clear message to the nations on this subject; it should not be shy and it should not give in," he added. "Israel is the only state that allows countries to boycott its capital and put their embassies elsewhere."
