Karadi: Disengagement Earned Police Place of Honor

Moshe Karadi, who was Police Commissioner until last week, said the 2005 Disengagement from Gaza "earned the Israel Police a place of honor in the world."

"A week after I took office as commissioner, the police received what may have been its most difficult mission ever, and I mean the evacuation of residents in the Disengagement," Karadi told NFC. "It looked like a difficult, complicated event to the police," he said, adding that police had trained an entire year for the six-day operation.

Besides earning the police "a place of honor in the world," he said, the Disengagement also let the government understand that the police can be entrusted with national missions such as these.
