Students, Police Clash in Jerusalem
Hundreds of student protestors clashed with police in Jerusalem on Thursday night. Clashes began when a group of students attempted to force their way through a checkpoint in front of the Prime Minister’s residence, where students were holding a protest.
Hundreds of students attempted to block a nearby intersection, and were stopped by police. Students then split into groups, with some managing to disturb traffic on Yafo Street, a major road in the city center. The students are demanding that Prime Minister Ehud Olmert agree to reduce tuition and increase funding to higher education.
