PM Blames Former IDF Chief of Staff for War’s Outcome

Prime Minister Ehud Olmert told the Winograd Commission during its investigation of the government’s decision to go to war and its management of the conflict that responsibility for its outcome was not his own.

The Prime Minister blamed former IDF Chief of Staff Dan Halutz, saying he (Halutz) had told him the army was prepared for war.

Defense Minister Amir Peretz also claimed ignorance of any “problem with the army’s preparedness,” during his testimony about his part in the government's performance before and during the first few days of the war.
