Rabbis Issue Public Call to Ascend Temple Mount

Three rabbinical leaders in the national-religious community have issued a public call to Jews to ascend the Temple Mount. The three, Rabbi Chaim Druckman, Rabbi Tzefania Drori, and Rabbi Avraham Zuckerman, called on “the entire holy camp” to enter permitted areas of the Mount.

The rabbis told Jews that before ascending the Mount, they must immerse themselves in a mikva (ritual bath). On the Mount, they must wear cloth shoes and walk only in areas permitted by Jewish law.

Dozens of rabbis have issued calls to ascend the Mount, however, the announcement by Druckman, Drori, and Zuckerman is seen by many as more mainstream. Druckman and Zuckerman head the “Bnei Akiva” religious high schools and youth movement, and Drori is the Chief Rabbi of Kiryat Shemona.
