(IsraelNN.com) Israel’s new Defense Minister, MK Amir Peretz, who was sworn in yesterday, met the IDF General Staff for the first time at army headquarters in Tel Aviv.

He relaxed restrictions imposed on Palestinian Authority (PA) residents during recent weeks, permitting 13,000 workers to cross into pre-1967 Israel to work.

--A bomb exploded at Megiddo Junction along Route 65, in the I'ron Valley (Wadi Ara) area. The terrorist was seriously wounded in the blast. There were no other injuries. Police learned the terrorist planned to board a bus traveling to Afula, but the bomb detonated prematurely.

--Lebanese Druze leader Walid Jumblatt said there was no reason to continue to arm Hezbollah, since Israel is no longer in Lebanon. He recommended absorbing Hezbollah terrorists into the Lebanese army.

--MK Tzvi Hendel (National Union – NRP) lashed out at Prime Minister Ehud Olmert (Kadima) for not responding adequately to the Kassam rockets that were fired into Israel from Gaza.
