Abbas, Haniyeh Meet to Discuss American Plan (IsraelNN.com) Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas and PA Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh met on Sunday night to discuss the latest American plan. The plan would have Israel ease travel restrictions between Gaza and Palestinian Authority areas in Judea and Samaria, in exchange for a cessation of Hamas rocket attacks against Israel. Hamas rejected the proposal on Saturday, calling it “a farce” and saying that rocket attacks against Israel will “never end.”
Abbas reportedly is trying to convince Haniyeh to accept the plan. One of the major disagreements between Abbas’s Fatah and Hamas has been the extent to which Arab terror groups should agree to various peace proposals. The Sunday meeting ended with no change in the official Hamas stance on the matter. ![]() © A7 Syndications - This article may not be republished freely.
