IDF Will Operate Free Buses on Hwy 60
The IDF will begin operating a bus service for Jewish residents of Judea and Samaria, in an attempt to reduce the risk of kidnapping of hitchhikers by terrorists.
Recently, numerous intelligence alerts have pointed to terrorist plans to abduct hitchhikers, especially around Gush Etzion and Beit El. In consultations between the army and community security officers, it was decided that the free bus service would go into operation on Highway 60, the main artery into Jerusalem from the North and the South. The plans are apparently for one morning bus and several buses in the afternoon.
The buses will be bulletproof and the budget for their operation will be taken from the IDF.
