The world’s top bishops will make the subject of anti-Semitism a top priority in an international Roman Catholic conference to be held in Italy next year.

In a preparatory document for the October 2008 conference released last week, a whole section was dedicated to the relationship between the Church and the world Jewish community.

The 60-page document, which was approved by Pope Benedict XVI, called for efforts "to overcome every form of anti-Semitism." It included a questionaire for bishops, asking local church leaders to investigate the use of biblical texts to "ferment attitudes of anti-Semitism."
