Arabs attacked residents of the Jewish community of Sde Boaz, south of Jerusalem, Friday morning, after they were caught red handed uprooting the community's vines. At 7 a.m., residents of Sde Boaz, discovered a group of Arabs uprooting vines the Jews had planted two weeks ago, following a previous attack by Arabs in which hundreds of vines were uprooted.
The Arabs – a dozen residents of El Khader – had apparently also stolen the Israeli flag that had been flying at the location. In response, a group of angry local Jews surrounded the Arabs' donkey and announced they were holding it hostage pending the return of the flag. The Arabs flew into a rage and began attacking the Jews with sticks and rocks. The Jews fought back in kind.
According to Israel National News reporter Ezra HaLevi, police and Civil Authority officials who arrived at the spot initially refused to arrest any of the Arabs. Only when the Jews insisted forcefully, was the police's elite Yasam unit called in, and arrests have apparently been carried out.
