Candidates for Supreme Court to Be Named on June 13th

The Committee for Selection of Judges will convene on June 13th to discuss the appointment of new Supreme Court judges. The names selected will be published within the next ten days, as required by law.

The date for the appointments session was decided upon by Justice Minister Daniel Friedmann, who is the committee's chairman, and Supreme Court President Dorit Beinish.

The issue of Supreme Court nominations is a highly contentious one, and caused great tension between Beinish and the former justice minister, Chaim Ramon. Beinish adamantly refuses to have any candidate who does not share her world view to be appointed to the court.
