(IsraelNN.com) The Committee for Saving the Land of Israel is trying to organize a petition of one million people demanding a state inquiry on the expulsion of Jews and destruction of their communities in the summer of 2005. The group said it was inspired by the Winograd Committee report that harshly criticized Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and Defense Minister Amir Peretz for the conduct of the Second War in Lebanon against Hizbullah terrorists.

The organization wants an inquiry on the policy of expulsion, police brutality and the lack of care for thousands of citizens who were left homeless.

However, it criticized the Winograd panel for not making the connection between the expulsion and the Hizbullah war against Israel and the smuggling of weapons into Gaza.
