Prime Minister Ehud Olmert "is a dead man walking" and if he stays in office, "he will have approval ratings at the level of the Dead Sea," the lowest point on Earth, former American Ambassador to Israel Martin Indyk told TIME magazine.
He expressed concern that his remaining in office will prevent meaningful negotiations with the Palestinian Authority (PA). "For him to make a move on the peace process without the trust of the Israeli people would be impossible," Indyk explained.
Aaron David Miller, former Middle East negotiator for the American State Department, described Prime Minister Olmert as "being kicked around the Israeli political scene like a deflated soccer ball."
