Singer Gilad Segev will sing the song We Deserve More at the protest planned Thursday night at Rabin Square in Tel Aviv. Uzi Dayan, former IDF officer and founder of the Tafnit party, planned the demonstration as a protest against the Olmert administration failure to secure the freedom of IDF soldiers kidnapped by Hizbullah terrorists.
Segev said he composed the song because of his "bad feelings" about the government and the conduct of the Second War in Lebanon. The 17-year-old sister of one of the soldiers who fell in the war will sing with Segev.
The song's lyrics include, "After the echoes of the cannons fall silent, we deserve more/and if we lost in the sand the footprints of sons, we deserve more/ a great silence was wrapped around the shouts, and it wants to free itself/so give me a hand, we swear we will not give up/give me a hand we have no other place... here is the multi-colored coat [of the Biblical Joseph] but where are the children/ they deserve more."
