Opposition leader and Likud party chairman Binyamin (Bibi) Netanyahu would win back most of the Knesset seats it lost in the last election if elections were held today, according to a Teleseker poll published Wednesday in the Hebrew daily newspaper Ma'ariv.

The former Prime Minister would win a plurality of the popular vote, even if Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni were to head the Kadima party in place of Prime Minister Ehud Olmert. The survey gave her only 15 percent of the vote.

The Likud would win 31 mandates, 19 more than it has now, Kadima would plummet from 29 to 22 seats and Labor would garner 20 mandates, one more than at present, if the Foreign Minister were to head Kadima and MK Ami Ayalon were to lead Labor.

Fifty-eight percent of the public think the current government will fall, and 49 percent think new elections should be held.
