The Hamas rocket attack on Israel on Independence Day was carried out in coordination with Ismail Haniyeh and Mahmoud Abbas (the heads of the terrorist Palestinian Authority), according to a senior Hamas official quoted in Nazareth based Arab newspaper A-Sinara. The man said the attack was not a reaction to Israel's killing of nine Arabs in previous days or a diversion for an abduction, but was rather intended as a "diplomatic message."
Israel misunderstood the message, the source said. "The idea was not to kidnap an Israeli soldier, but to kick start the diplomatic process and remove the siege (on the terrorist PA)."
The source said Hamas fired twenty rockets between 6:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. Tuesday, and any rockets launched later were the work of other groups.
