Fatah’s Al-Aksa Brigades took responsibility for a Kassam rocket attack on Thursday. The rocket, launched from the Palestinian Authority-controlled Gaza region, landed in an open area near Ashkelon. No one was injured in the attack.
The attack came just one day after Fatah leader Mahmoud Abbas called an earlier attack an “abnormal occurrence” and said that a ceasefire announced in late 2006 is still in effect. Abbas made his statement during a trip to Europe, the goal of which is to convince European leaders to continue funding the PA despite the inclusion of terrorist group Hamas in the government.
