Poll: Israeli First; Jewish Second
A survey conducted by the Mutagim polling team just before Independence Day showed that the majority of secular Israelis say they feel more Israeli than Jewish.
Conservative Jews were more inclined to identify themselves as Jews first, and Israelis second, as were religious Jews, 82 percent of whom said they were more Jewish than Israeli.
Not surprisingly, the hareidi-religious population had the highest percentage of those who identified first as Jews – 92 percent, compared to five percent who told pollsters they identified as Israelis first.
